III INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF SCULPTURE
ODEMIRA – PORTUGAL 2010


1st Article
General Conditions

1. The Symposium is to take place in the town of Odemira, along the bank and walkway of the Mira River, between the 14 and 28 August.
2. The duration of the event will be of 15 days.
3. The sculptor should arrive in Odemira by the 14th August in the morning and should remain in based in the area until the event comes to an end.
4. A panel of judges will be formed to select the participating artists.
5. The panel of judges will be made up of two members from the Sopa dos Artistas Association and two members from the Municipal Town Hall of Odemira.
6. From a total of six participating artists, four will be selected. Two of the six artists will be invited by the organizing entity.

2nd Article
Requirements

1. Each sculptor should submit along with his personal identification documents (name, address, nationality, telephone number and e-mail address) his curriculum vitae and portfolio. It is not recommended to mail the portfolio via the internet or the presentation of works through websites.
2. The sculptors must submit a list of the materials and tools required for the execution of their work. This list should take into consideration regionally sourced materials (e.g. wood, clay etc.) or materials offered by companies supporting the event, e.g. metal/iron and stone.
3. These details should be sent, by no later than the 30 July 2010, either to the Câmara Municipal de Odemira, Praça da Repúbilica, Gabinete da Cultura, 7630 Odemira, or to the Associação Sopa dos Artistas, Apartado 21, Seladinhas, 7630-908 São Teotónio - Portugal

5. The artists are required to create a work of art for an urban space (public art) with a minimum dimension of 250 x 100 x 100 cms.

3rd Article
Tools / Materials

1. Each sculptor will be able to work with his personal tools, however the organization, in as much as is possible, will undertake to supply some tools, so long these are requested in advance and agreed to by both parties.
2. In accordance with the service requirements, an assistant will be made available to see to any eventual necessities of the artists.

4th Article
Accommodation and Meals

1. Accommodation will be in a local guesthouse, covered by the organizing body.
2. Meals will be covered also by the organizing body.

5th Article
Participation Awards

1. On completing the work each sculptor will, at the end of the Symposium, receive 600€ .The work produced during the Symposium belongs to the artist. The work has to stay 2 years (up to next
symposium) . Then it can either be left in a space within the Municipality or taken away (at own expense).
6 Article
Exhibition

1. At the end of the Symposium an exhibition of the works produced will be inaugurated supported by a catalogue.
